Transfer of an EASA licence

This page contains information on how EASA licence holders can have their licences transferred to another EASA member state.

You can only hold a licence in one of the EASA member states. This applies to all types of licences linked to EASA. The same applies to medical certificates, which means that you cannot hold a pilot licence in one country and a medical certificate in another country within EASA.

Licences and medical certificates can only be transferred if they are valid.

Transfer of licence to Sweden

  1. You apply for the transfer of licences to Sweden to the Swedish Transport Agency using the following forms:

    Please complete the application forms and send them to our registry by post to the Swedish Transport Agency, 601 73 Norrköping, or in PDF format by email to certifikat.w3d3@transportstyrelsen.se.

  2. Once a case has been registered, a confirmation email will be sent. When a case handler has been assigned to the case, you will receive an email informing you that the case has been invoiced – currently 6,480 SEK – and that processing will be put on hold until the invoice has been paid. (You do not need to notify us once you have paid the invoice, as our finance department will forward this information to your case.)

  3. Once the invoice has been paid, we will resume processing your application and request the documents relating to your pilot’s licence and medical certificates from the relevant authority.

  4. Once the documents have been received, they are reviewed. Either they contain all the necessary information and can be approved, or we will ask you or the relevant authority to provide further details. If anything is unclear, we will ask for clarification, which may delay the process.

  5. The transfer is only complete once you have received both a Swedish medical certificate and a Swedish pilot’s licence.

Transfer of licence from Sweden

  1. You apply for the transfer of licences from Sweden to the relevant authority in the country of your choice.

  2. The Swedish Transport Agency will receive a request for a transfer from the authority to which you have applied.

  3. Regarding your pilot licence, you will receive a confirmation email stating that a case has been registered. When we send a verification regarding your pilot licence to the requesting authority, we currently charge 200 SEK for the certificate.

  4. Regarding your medical certificate, you will receive a confirmation email and information stating that the fee for the transfer of the certificate is currently 700 SEK. We will only begin processing your application once the invoice has been paid. We will check that all the necessary documents are available, and an aviation medical examiner will review your case.

  5. The documents are then sent to the competent authority of the EASA country to which the application relates.

  6. For Class 1, the transfer is recorded in the EAMR system.

  7. You await confirmation that the transfer has been completed from the EASA country to which you applied.

PLEASE NOTE! In order for your licences/certificates to be transferred, the following is required:

  • That you hold at least one valid class or type rating in your pilot licence.
  • You must have a valid medical certificate. If you are unfit (do not have a valid medical certificate), a transfer cannot be carried out.

The processing time for a transfer is approximately 6–12 months.
