Licence plates
In Sweden, a vehicle that is subject to registration may only be used if it is fitted with licence plates.
There are different licence plates for different vehicles and situations. Below you can see some types of Swedish licence plates.
Licence plate
- Single-row licence plates used for most types of vehicles.
- Dimensions: 520 x 110 mm
Licence plate for motorcycle and moped class I
- Two-row registration plate for motorcycle and moped class 1.
- Dimensions: 170 x 150 mm
Small licence plate (often called US-style plate)
- Small, single-row licence plates used on vehicles with small space.
- Dimensions: 300 x 110 mm
Personalised licence plate
This licence plate can be used on most types of vehicles. For a fee, you may order a character combination that you have designed yourself. Between two and seven characters are permitted.
