This section includes information on how to pay for parking tickets
and what to do if you think that you have received a ticket in
error.
The Swedish Transport Agency looks after the administration of
parking tickets issued on the municipalities' streets. However, we
do not look after the administration of tickets from private
parking companies.
The Swedish Transport Agency:
- checks that payments have been made within the prescribed
period,
- issues remittance slips and reminders,
- refers unpaid matters to the Enforcement Service.
Do you think that you have received a parking ticket in error?
If you consider that you have received a parking ticket in
error, you can apply for rectification. You can do this by visiting
the police station in the community where you received the parking
ticket. You must take your parking ticket with you.
If your application is not approved, you can write and contest
your liability to pay (appeal). Send your letter to the address
stated on the parking ticket.
Keep in mind that the parking fine must be paid even if you
consider it to be in error. The fine will be refunded to you if
your application is approved. Provisions on parking fines are
contained in the Parking Fines Act (1976:206) (in Swedish only).
Paying fines
Payments must be made to one of the following:
- PlusGiro account no. 80 51 02-1
- Bank giro account no. 5051-6905
If you do not use the printed remittance slip issued, you must
state the matter number or OCR number.
If you are paying via the Internet, you must state the
OCR/reference number shown on your payment slip.
The owner of the vehicle in question is always responsible for the
fine being paid.
Paying from abroad
You can
pay the Swedish Transport Agency from abroad.
How to get a refund
If you contest a parking ticket and are proved right, the fine
that has been charged will be refunded to you. If you have a
PlusGiro account, the money will be repaid into this account. In
other cases, we will send the amount via Swedbank's payment
system.
Swedbank has a register of the accounts reported from its own
systems, from other banks, PlusGiro, personal accounts and private
giro accounts. If an account has been registered, the money will be
transferred into this account. Otherwise, we will send you a
payment advice. This advice is formulated as an authorisation for
future account deposits. You should state on this advice the
account to which future payments should be made.
