Congestion tax will be charged for Swedish-registered vehicles that
are driven into and out of central Gothenburg, Mondays to Fridays
between 06.00 and 18.29.
The tax will not be charged on Saturdays, weekends or public
holidays, on a day preceding a public holiday or during the month
of July. Some vehicles are exempt
from congestion tax.
Vehicles are automatically registered at 'control points' during
the periods when congestion tax is charged. Each passage into or
out of central Gothenburg will cost SEK 8, 13 or 18, depending on
the time of day. The maximum amount per day and vehicle will be SEK
60.
Monthly payments
The Swedish Transport Agency will send a payment slip to the
owner of the vehicle at the end of each month. On this payment
slip, the passages made during the preceding calendar month are
aggregated in the form of a tax decision. You can only pay once the
tax decision has been taken.
Tax must be paid into the Swedish Transport Agency's congestion
tax account no later than on the last day of the month following
the notification month. It is not possible to pay anything at a
control point. The owner of the vehicle is responsible for paying
the tax, even if they have not received a payment slip. If
the tax is not paid on time, a surcharge of SEK 500 will be
imposed.
