Paying and notification of congestion tax

The taxable passages made by a vehicle into or out of Stockholm and Gothenburg during one month will be added together and dispatched to you as a tax decision. The tax is then payed in arrears.

Using our e-services, you can view your tax decisions and your vehicles' preliminary passages. Our e-services also allow you to check if you have paid your taxes (in Swedish only).

Congestion tax - show information

Concerning vehicles registered abroad, the Swedish Transport Agency has entrusted a notification partner to identify the vehicle owners, send them invoices and receive payments via EPASS24.

You can pay congestion tax in one of the following ways:

Direct debit ("autogiro")

You can sign up for direct debit (in Swedish: "autogiro") in your online bank. This will allow the congestion tax to be debited from your bank account automatically. You can combine direct debit with the electronic invoice.

Electronic invoice ("e-faktura")

If you use an online bank (in Swedish: "internetbank") via your Swedish bank, you can sign up for electronic invoice ("e-faktura" in Swedish) for congestion tax (in Swedish: "trängselskatt"). We will then send the invoice directly to your online bank instead of sending it by post.

Payment slip

At the end of each month, the Swedish Transport Agency sends out a payment slip to owners of vehicles registered in Sweden.

See your tax decisions
