Application for the establishment of a danger area (D-area)
The Swedish Transport Agency may designate an area as a Danger Area (D-area) if there is a risk to aviation safety that does not warrant the establishment of a restricted area. Danger areas are typically created to protect aircraft from hazards such as ground-to-air and air-to-air shooting, bombing, blasting, target towing, and other aviation-related risks. They may also be required for certain UAV operations conducted Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) below 120m GND.
The complete application must be submitted to the Swedish Transport Agency at least seven weeks before the intended start date of the danger area.

Application Requirements
Your application must include the following information:
1. Contact Information (Mandatory)
Provide details of the organization or authority, including:
- Name
- Address
- Postal code, city and country
- Telephone number
- Contact person
2. Planned Activities (Mandatory)
Describe the planned activities and operations and what aviation-related risks the danger area should will mitigate.
3. Designation, Boundaries, and Height of the Danger Area (Mandatory)
Propose a name for the danger area, ensuring it is traceable to its geographical location.
Horizontal Limits
- Define the danger area boundaries using coordinates given as degrees-minutes-seconds (DMS).
- Use a clockwise order, starting from the northwesternmost coordinate and ending at the same starting coordinate.
- Specify any horizontal internal buffers that you have applied.
Vertical (Upper) Limit
- Specify the upper limit of the danger area in feet AMSL (Above Mean Sea Level) or flight level (FL).
- Consider the highest ground point within the area when determining the upper limit.
- Specify any vertical internal buffers that you have applied.
4. Validity Period (Mandatory)
Specify the start and end times in UTC format (YYYY-MM-DD, HHMM UTC).
Example:
- Start time: 2022-01-01, 0900 UTC
- End time: 2022-12-31, 2359 UTC
For recurring operations, specify time periods for each day when applicable.
5. Risk Mitigation Measures (Mandatory only for UAS Operations)
Provide a detailed description of the risk mitigation measures in place, both organizational and onboard the UAV.
Examples include:
- ADS-B IN transponder
- Geofencing/geocage technology
- Use of local height references
- Position lights
- Active system monitoring
- Operational authorization(s)
- Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and Detect-and-Avoid measures
- Communication protocols with other aircraft/pilots
- Electronic conspicuity capabilities
6. Collaboration (Mandatory)
Indicate whether you have coordinated with other authorities, stakeholders, or businesses that may be affected and the outcome of these coordinations.
7. Supporting Documentation (Mandatory)
Attach:
