Step 8 - Activate your registration

When you have received your registration certificate and plates, you can activate your registration with the Swedish Transport Agency.

If the vehicle is subject to traffic insurance, you need valid traffic insurance in order to be able to activate your registration. For activation, choose one of the following alternatives:

  • our License your vehicle for use e-service (in Swedish only) 
  • call our automated service telephone on +46 (0)771-25 25 25 (in Swedish only)
  • request activating registration in writing on the registration certificate.

Once your registration is activated, we will send you information regarding payment of your vehicle tax.

Please note that the use of a control sticker in Sweden has expired since January 2010. In other words, we will not send you a control sticker to put on you registration plate.
