Supervising Authority
According to the Ordinance (2006:311) on carriage of dangerous
goods, the Coast Guard is the supervising authority for
maritime transports of dangerous goods.
The supervising authorities for the carriage of dangerous goods
for the various modes of transport often cooperate in inspections
as so many transports are multimodal (are accomplished via more
than one mode of transport). In addition to the Swedish Transport
Agency and the Coast Guard, the other supervising authorities are:
the Swedish Police and Swedish Customs. The Swedish
Civil Contingencies Agency is the coordinating agency and
supervisory authority with regard to safety advisers. Cooperation
meetings among the agencies are called SAMTILL. For more
information, visit the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency’s
website.
