Permits

Permits for railway undertakings

The Swedish Transport Agency may grant permits to companies that wish to operate traffic on the Swedish railway infrastructure:

• Licence
• Safety certificate part A and part B
• Special permits
  

Certified applicants

The Swedish Transport Agency may grant certificates to persons and/or legal entities with public service or commercial interest in procuring infrastructure capacity.

• Certified applicants according to Chapter 1, Article 2 in to the European Parliament and the Council Directive 2001/14/EC

Authorisation for railway infrastructure

A permit from the Swedish Transport Agency is required in order to operate and administer infrastructure.

Permits for metros and tramways

A permit from the Swedish Transport Agency is required in order to operate and administer track installations. A permit to operate traffic is required by companies that wish to operate traffic on a metro or tramway.
