Vehicle Keeper Marking VKM

The European Rail Agency (ERA) has a register of vehicle keeper markings (VKMs) in the EU. There must be a VKM on every rail vehicle adjacent to the vehicle number to identify the keeper of the vehicle. The Swedish Transport Agency will be responsible for registering applications for a VKM and for passing them on to the ERA. A VKM may only be used after it has been published by the ERA.

The application of the VKMs must contain VKM , unique VKM, vehicle keeper, country and web address. The application vill be sent to the ERA via the Swedish Transport Agency.

The Swedish Transport Agency wants to encourage all vehicle keepers who want to register their abbreviation to send the above details to Mailbox - Swedish Transport Agency and apply for VKM. Questions will be dealt with by Carina Larsson on 0243-24 69 65.
